Much happened after before it became the preserve it is today. In the 1940s E.V. Babcock’s son transferred 65,000 acres to the State of Florida creating a Wildlife Management Area. The remainder of the 91,000 acres, known as the Crescent B Ranch, continued cattle, timber, and agricultural operations.
